CLASS MEETS BOTH DAYS

Compuware’s XPEDITER/CICS allows the application programmer to interactively test the source code of COBOL, PL/I, and Assembler programs. (This class will focus on COBOL/COBOL II source code.)

The instructor will discuss how to establish the XPEDITER environment for CICS, as well as XPEDITER commands and how to use them.

1:00 PM - 4:00 PM EST XPEDITER/CICS

Student should have experience with COBOL II and CICS.

Registration must be received by October 1, 1999. Intranet (Compuware Network) NetMeeting, Internet Explorer 4.0 or later, Mainframe connection (via Attachmate Extra or other emulator).
October 18, 1999 (Monday), October 19, 1999 (Tuesday)

CLASS MEETS BOTH DAYS

Compuware's Xpediter TSO/IMS allows the application programmer to interactively test the source code of COBOL, PL/I, and Assembler programs. (This class will focus on COBOL/COBOL II source code.)

The instructor will discuss how to establish the Xpediter environment, including Standard, IMS, DB2, as well as Xpediter commands and how to use them. Xpediter Xchange will also be presented with this class.

October 30, 1999 (Saturday) Compuware's File-AID DataAger tool allows users of the mainframe data to quickly age, convert and manipulate data, and especially dates, in their files. Also included in the tool is the ability to convert to and from the new Euro currency, along with several other "field exits" to allow users to manipulate data for a variety of business functions.

The instructor will lead students through a series of hands-on demonstrations to highlight these functions, along with workshops to facilitate better understanding of the tool. Students will age dates in a datafile, along with using the Euro conversion function and other field exits for data manipulation.

October 30, 1999 (Saturday) Compuware's QADirector tool facilitates the automated running of multiple scripts in an unattended mode.

The instructor will demonstrate usage of the tool in both a client/server and mainframe environment. In the c/s environment, students will do a hands-on workshop using QADirector to kick off and track jobs on the PC. In the mainframe environment, the instructor will demonstrate the tool capabilities to interface with and control jobs on the mainframe.

CLASS MEETS BOTH DAYS

This class provides an overview to Compuware's tool FileAid/MVS. The Compuware File-Aid product allows easy access to data to enable the application and systems programmers to get their jobs done.

Through instructor lead presentations, the student will understand how to use File-Aid to edit data, build cross references, compare files, and reformat files.

Student should have experience with TSO/ISPF and programming techniques with COBOL or PL/1.

CLASS MEETS BOTH DAYS

This course teaches how to use FailSafe on a regular basis throughout the development, test and application delivery and support cycle to crash-proof Visual Basic applications and components.

Through instructor lead presentations and hands-on workshops, the student will learn how to instrument code with FailSafe, generate and use a Trace File, use the Visual Profiler to analyze application performance, customize FailSafe error reporting, remotely collect detailed error information, and work with advanced features including templates and customized error handling.

Student should have experience with Visual Basic programming.

  Registration must be received by November 1, 1999.

November 20, 1999 (Saturday) This course teaches how to use SmartCheck on a regular basis throughout the development, test and application delivery and support cycle to quickly locate and fix problems within 32-bit Visual Basic applications and components.

Through instructor lead presentations and hands-on workshops, the student will understand the SmartCheck usage model, types of errors found, and event analysis and team use.

Student should have experience with Visual Basic programming.

  Registration must be received by November 1, 1999.

Internet (HOME) NetMeeting, Internet Explorer 4.0 or later, NuMega SmartCheck software, Visual Basic 5.0 w/ service pack 3.
November 22, 1999 (Monday) This course teaches how to use TrueTime on a regular basis throughout the development, test and application delivery and support cycle to quickly locate and fix performance problems within 32-bit Windows applications and components. While the course uses TrueTime Visual Basic Edition as an example, most of the information is applicable to the Visual C++ and Java Editions as well.

Through instructor lead presentations and hands-on workshops, the student will understand the suggested usage model, instrumentation and filtering performance data.

December 8, 1999 (Wednesday) This course is designed to enhance existing skills using Compuware's MVS Abend-AID and to introduce the student to Abend-AID features and advantages.

Through instructor lead presentations in the CyberClass format, the student will debug a standard dump without Abend-AID and with Abend-AID.

Student should have knowledge of programming techniques with COBOL or PL/1.

December 14, 1999 (Tuesday), December 15, 1999 (Wednesday), December 16, 1999 (Thursday)

CLASS MEETS ALL 3 DAYS

This course will teach the participant Internet concepts and will introduce the capabilities and syntax of Hypertext Markup Language HTML. The participants will learn how to design Web pages using HTML.

Through instructor lead presentation, the participant will be able to create lists, organize data in tables, place images, create forms, and design a basic Web page.

Familiarity with Windows interface is required.
