Reluctantly forced into a highschool drama program, painfully shy Benjamin
Karl saw a whole new world open before him. Stunning everyone with a
moving rendition of "O' captain, my captain," he went on to perform in two
of his highschool plays and then dance along side former colleague Joe Cwik to a
screaming audience at the school variety show.
Entertainment was his calling. He began producing his own music video
compilations using only a couple of VCRs and his stereo. Despite working
with stone knives and bearskins to edit, he got a huge thrill from it. But
using pre-existing footage from movies for his videos was soon not enough.
The next step for this aspiring thespian was to produce original footage
with a story built around the music video. Long time best friend Jeff Miller
jumped on board, and the two produced "Blood on the
Dance floor," a 45 minute short incorporating an action packed music video
shot on some 14 different locations.
Benjamin then attended Schoolcraft college where he studied theater and
Shakespeare under Professor James R. Hartman. Dr. Hartman studied under
both Oscar G. Brockett and Agnes Moorhead. Benjamin performed many roles,
onstage as well as backstage, and graduated with an Associate in theater. He continues to work on numerous plays with Schoolcraft College such as Shakespeare's "The Merchant of
Venice." He has also studied film at the Detroit Filmmaker's Coalition under Chris
McNamera.
Following principal photography of "The Tomorrow Men" Docu-Drama and the departure of former Vice-President Joseph T. Cwik, Benjamin initiated the reorganization of Ved Bok Entertainment's administration. Bolstered by the uncompromising talents and dedication of Executive Officers Rick Wambaugh, Scott Kennedy, and Ryan-Iver Klann, Benjamin and VP Jeff Miller strive confidently towards VBE's ultimate goal: To educate and entertain through film.
