What is Ved Bok Entertainment?
Ved Bok Entertainment (VBE) intends to revolutionize the film community by breaking down the barriers separating two very different worlds born of the same ideal. By joining the cerebral world of the independent filmmaker and the studio focus on entertainment, VBE will create a film community where stories are told for the benefit of the people, giving them an experience that is both intellectual and entertaining.
This approach to filmmaking, devised by founders Benjamin Karl and Jeff Miller, began in the late nineties while producing video shorts in their hometown of Livonia, Michigan. These early productions brought them together in an intense, creative atmosphere out of which VBE was born. In order to fulfill our vision and to gain the respect of its peers, on April 13, 2000 Ved Bok Entertainment became incorporated. Since this time, VBE has been hard at work planning and paving the first miles on the road connecting Hollywood and the indie film world.
The first few miles included VBE's initial productions Exits and Entrances and For Pizza’s Sake. These 16mm silent shorts, made in cooperation with the Detroit Filmmaker's Coalition, are representative of VBE's interest in a multitude of genres ranging from light comedy and action to deep moral issues and emotional drama. With the inclusion of color, 35mm and other formats, VBE continues to produce a wide range of cross-genre films. This style of producing is crucial to VBE's goal of bridging the gap between the Hollywood and indie film worlds.
In order to shed light on and expand the local film community, Ved Bok Entertainment is building a talent database containing actors, crew and other persons essential to the film production process. This film talent database is for use by the independent film community at large, and is quite simple to join.
Ved Bok Entertainment is creating a film community where stories are told for the people, and not just for the production houses.
