Submitting a Script
Have you ever written a story that you thought would make a good film? If
you have, Ved Bok Entertainment may have a way for you to bring your
masterpiece to the silver screen.
VBE is currently searching for original stories, plays, and screenplays to
produce and distribute to the independent film festival circuit. We
are looking for works of all genres and lengths that can be produced
convincingly on a non-Hollywood budget, so if you have a work that
you think has what it takes to become a good film, by all means
send it to us! The submission process is as follows:
- Make one type-written, double-spaced, single-sided and numbered copy of
your work. On the front page of this copy, indicate the existence and owners
of any registered copyrights on the work, as well as any writers' guild or
other artistic registrations.
- Write a one or two page letter introducing yourself and giving a brief
synopsis of the story you are submitting. You may list previous writing or
film-related experience, but please do not send resumes.
- Print out a copy of the VBE Literary Review Release. This is a short form
that allows both you and VBE to cover our backs with regard to the
submission of your works. All creators/co-creators or co-owners of
copyrights on the material need to sign this form before sending it in. Make
two copies of the signed form, and keep one copy for your records.
- Place your work, your letter, and one copy of the signed Literary Review
Release in a letter envelope and send to:

All works sent with the materials listed above will be immediately reviewed
by the Production Board at VBE. We will decide to do one of three things
with your script:
- Negotiate a purchase of the rights to the work (in the case that VBE
wants to produce your film within six months of review,)
- Negotiate an option on the rights to your work (in the case that we
would like to produce your film but are unable to do so immediately.)
- Send you notification that we cannot currently produce your work, along
with an explanation of our decision.
We guarantee a response within thirty days of the postmark date on your
submission packet, and the response will be by the quickest means available
(i.e., if you give an e-mail address in your letter, we will e-mail you; if
you have no e-mail, we will fax or snail-mail you.)
For more information, please write us.
